About Three Hills Optometry...
Dr. Murphy was approached by the town of Three Hills in 1981 to provide eyecare services to their community. Three Hills is located 150km NE of Calgary. The town has a population of just over 3000, with a drawing area of 15,000. The area has excellent farm land and the town in noted for the Prairie Bible College which has many international students including those from the United States and the Orient.

The initial three years in servicing the area involved sharing the office of a local family physician. One exam room was modified to include a permanent refracting lane to provide comprehensive eye examinations. Another area was designated for spectacle dispensing and contact lens services.  In 1984, an independent office was established for the Three Hills Optometry clinic. One renovation and expansion has since been done to include two examination rooms, a full dispensary and contact lens centre.

In July 1998, the Three Hills office was relocated to its new home which now boasts wheel chair access, larger dispensary and contact lens service area, proximity to Medical doctors, health care unit, and hospital, and Lots of Windows!

The office is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 - 5, with patients seen every Tuesday and Wednesday, and some Thursdays. Drs. Saetre, Cooper , and Basra alternate working at this location.

We have four staff who share time covering all services.

OUR STAFF: OUR PRIDE IS IN OUR PEOPLE

Lyn Haller- When you come into our office you will likely remember Lyn’s vivaciousness and wittiness.  She has worked with us since 1991, completing the Optometric Assistant training in the same year, and is established as the office guru.  She is currently the office manager providing accounting and payroll services for Three Hills as well as our Calgary offices.

Susan Maruzs – Susan has been with us since March 2006 and has completed a one-year Optometric Assistant program with the Canadian Association of Optometrists.  We’re excited about her achievement. She provides personalized recommendations to have you seeing and looking your best with your eyewear, and pays careful attention to your needs.

Katelin Smith – Kate is the fresh face in the office starting in August 2007. Her talkative friendly way will make you feel at home when you meet her in reception. Kate is in charge of our general office responsibilities, health care billing, visual field testing and can also be seen lending a hand in frame selection.

Lorna Yost – Lorna is our newest employee joining our team in November 2007. She comes to us from retail sales management and has had extensive experience dealing with the public. She has stepped into the pretest and contact lens position learning her job responsibilities quickly. Lorna is a great addition to our office with her upbeat and willing personality.

Gord VanDam - Gord  joined our team in 2007 with over  20 years of optical experience with extensive management background. Gord is our District Manager who oversees all four practices. 

Lianne Phillip - Lianne is a licensed optician who joined our team in 2002 with over 15 years of experience in the Optometry field.  With her extensive Health Plus Optometry background, she was chosen to take on the challenge of opening our 2nd South Calgary office.

Jessica Farrow - Jessica joined the Health Plus team in the spring of 2007, coming from a supervisory position in the restaurant industry.  She brings with her strong customer service, leadership and team building skills.  Jessica is now expanding her abilities as she applies her new knowledge to all areas including pretest, contact lenses and dispense at the new South Calgary Eyecare office. Jessica is enrolled in the 2007 - 2008 Optometric Assistants training program.
