We utilize the latest advances in computerized technology to provide the most current and comprehensive eye health and vision care. Digital Retinal Photography enables us to document the health status of the back of the eye to best detect and monitor many ocular and systemic diseases. We find this service so important that we highly encourage retinal photography as part of our comprehensive eye examination package. Our staff will be happy to book your next appointment. Computerized Visual Field assessment helps to detect many conditions that affect the nervous system, including glaucoma, stroke, and brain tumors.
Advanced Professional Services provided by our Doctors at HPO include Binocular Vision Therapy which involves advanced testing and therapy for the vision focus and eye muscle system. Low Vision Services are provided for individuals with advanced vision loss, using the most current, high-tech magnification systems available. Our doctors provide surgical consultation and co-management, working with highly specialized surgeons, for laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery and management of many other ocular diseases. Dry EyeTherapy for advanced cases of dry eye is also provided.
Eye muscle and coordination problems can be very complex and require special vision corrections and vision therapy programs to remediate. When one of our doctors identifies you or your child has a Binocular Vision problem, a referral may be made within our office to either Dr. Osiowy or Dr. Saetre, to provide advanced assessment and training in this field.
Dry eye is a common complaint in Alberta, and is caused by numerous factors including age, computer use, forced air (heated and air-conditioned), UV exposure, and also medical conditions like arthritis. Proper diagnosis of dry eye requires assessment by your Optometrist to ensure the symptoms are not masking other eye conditions. A wide spectrum of treatments for dry eye are available at our clinic. These include specialty contact lenses, tear duct plugs, many advanced eye lubricant products, and lifestyle and health recommendations.
Drs. Patrick Murphy and Mark Bourdeau provide a specialty service for individuals with low vision, or those whom are legally blind. This advance service is at times provided in conjunctions with the services of the CNIB. Individuals requiring this service will also work with our expertly trained staff to be fit with special lens and eyeglass systems that will help to magnify and/or enhance the limited vision that they have. Children, working adults, and seniors with vision conditions (eye diseases) that affect their daily tasks, can often be returned to normal functioning with this specialty service.
